Press Release:

June 12, 2008

The New Hampshire Chapter of the National Alliance for The Mentally Ill (NAMI NH), has announced Deborah Green, MSW, LICSW is Mental Health Care Provider of the Year.

Deb has worked in the mental health field for over 30 years.  She got into the field around 1977 because “I liked to listen to people and liked to help them solve problems.”  Her first field placement was at the New Hampshire Hospital (NHH) forensic unit, “I was hooked.”

While at NHH, she worked as a mental health worker, then case manager and liaison to Mental Health Center of Greater Manchester (MHCGM) “placing and following people from NHH to the community.”

Deb graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University Of Connecticut School Of Social Work in 1986.  And again worked at NHH with a second placement at MHCGM, and ultimately was hired in 1986 as a NHH social worker.

Deb has done psychiatric emergency services for over 20 years “…at first I worked 24 hour shifts on Saturday or Sunday” in Manchester, and she remains is a steady member of the Riverbend ES team since coming to work fulltime for Riverbend in 1987.  She’s worked as a case manager, clinician - studied DBT with Marsha Linehan - team leader, and Continuous Treatment Team supervisor - serving people with psychiatric and substance abuse disorders.  While at Riverbend she was one the first police-court liaisons in this area and has served on the Police Court Liaison committee since its inception.

In 1999, Deb went to work full time at New Hampshire State Prison’s Secure Psychiatric Unit, and currently she works in the ‘outpatient’ mental health unit at the prison.  There is an award dinner at the Common Man in Plymouth on June 19th.  Check out the NAMI-NH website for more information.

Congratulations to a dedicated professional.
