CLINICAL COORDINATOR - JODY L. FINE, PSYD, is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 22 years of experience. Jody graduated Phi Beta Kappa from Tulane University with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology, obtained her Master of Science degree in Applied Psychology, and her doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Long Island University in 1994. She has worked in a wide variety of settings since then, ranging from private practice to hospitals, community mental health centers, and crisis centers. She enjoys working with individuals, couples and families and, in addition to her clinical work, serves as the Clinical Director of Riverbend Counseling Associates. In her clinical practice, Jody accentuates the importance of individual differences, noting that symptoms express themselves differently with different people. Her work is psychodynamic and she incorporates cognitive behavioral theories. She believes that effective treatment requires an atmosphere in which individuals feel heard, cared for and respected.

MARY LOU STAPLES, MA LCMHC is a licensed clinical mental health counselor. She holds a Master’s degree in counseling from the University of New Hampshire and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology also from the University of New Hampshire. She completed a post-graduate program with The Portsmouth Psychotherapy Institute studying psychoanalytic treatment modalities. She began her career as a psychotherapist in a private practice of fourteen years in the NH Seacoast area. She practiced as a therapist and emergency services clinician for Carroll County Mental Health Center and then as an emergency services clinician for Seacoast Mental Health Center. Mary Lou has now joined the Emergency Services team at Riverbend and will also be providing outpatient psychotherapy for the Riverbend Counseling Associates. Her mental health practice of twenty-six years includes eleven years of emergency services experience and over twenty-one years in group psychotherapies, family therapy, couples counseling and individual therapies. She practices with a cognitive-behavioral approach with the underlying insight of psychoanalytic and family systems perspectives. Mary Lou has experience in treating most all mental health issues and has specialized trainings in DBT, trauma resolution, family and group therapies.

RIMA SUTTON, LICSW holds a Master’s degree in social work from Boston University and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from the University of Massachusetts. She also attended Granite State College, and completed coursework in general special education and was certified as a general special educator. Rima has over fifteen years of clinical mental health experience and 5 years working as a special education teacher, case manager and behavioral specialist. She has worked in a variety of settings, including community mental health, community services, nonprofits, school systems, and medical social work providing individual, group, family, and marriage counseling to children, adolescents, adults and elderly adults. Rima has taught/facilitated parenting skills, anger management, social skills and alcohol/substance abuse groups. Her scope of practice includes experience working with developmental, learning ( including ADD/ADHD), and physical disabilities, behavioral management and conduct disorders, alcohol/substance abuse/dependence, depression, anxiety, PTSD, trauma, rape, domestic violence, anxiety, stress management , veterans, TBI, chronic illness, dementias, grief, bereavement, and hospice. Rima also has experience in emergency assessments and was trained in Critical Incident Stress Debriefing. She uses a cognitive behavioral, strength-based, solution-focused approach in a warm, respectful and accepting manner with people.

SHEILA GUINTHER, MEd, LCMHC, is a licensed mental health counselor, holding a Master’s of Education in Mental Health Counseling from Plymouth State University and a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from the University of Arizona. She worked in the nursing field for many years, and since obtaining her Master’s degree has worked in community mental health, both in the Community Support Program and providing therapy for adults. She works with adults and adolescent girls with issues of depression, bipolar disorders, trauma spectrum disorders, including self harming behavior, anxiety disorders, adults with ADD/ADHD, grief and loss, stress management and chronic medical problems. She utilizes a combination of approaches, including cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectical behavior therapy, and other supportive interpersonal approaches. She is a member of the American Mental Health Counseling Association and the New Hampshire Mental Health Counseling Association.

THOMAS SWIATEK, MA, LICSW is a licensed clinical social worker in New Hampshire and Massachusetts. He obtained his Master of Expressive Arts Therapy from Lesley College in 1983, and complimented that with a Master of Social Work from the University of New England in 1993. For over twenty-five years he has worked effectively with youth and family issues, geropsych issues, adult and couple problems, and end of life decisions. His therapeutic approach is eclectic and practical. While viewing each person as unique in their psycho-social-physio-spiritual makeup, he understands the pragmatic goal of change. He views the arts as a pathway and a tool in discovering insights used to forge solutions and new directions. This is especially true for those who struggle to find the right words in talking about themselves and their lives. He has openness to the contemplative dimension in a person’s growth, and an appreciation for the effects of meditative practice on stress, concentration, and hope. The under girding of all his work is the dynamic of the relationships we have with ourselves, others, and what we believe life is.

KIM PIKE, PSYD, completed her doctoral degree in clinical psychology at Antioch University, and is licensed to practice in New Hampshire. Over the past sixteen years Kim has practiced as a licensed psychologist in private practice, community mental health, and currently provides services to patients at New Hampshire Hospital. She works with patients with a variety of diagnoses in the context of a cognitive behavioral therapy approach. Kim works with individual adults and couples who want to focus on managing anxiety, depression, interpersonal conflicts, decision-making, bariatric evaluations, and compulsions. Her professional interests include substance abuse and dual diagnoses, post- traumatic stress disorder, psychotherapy integration, and supervision.

DONNA DOOLEY, MA, LCMHC is a licensed mental health counselor and holds a Master’s degree in counseling from Rivier College and a Bachelor’s degree in psychology from Bridgewater State College. She has worked about twenty years in a variety of counseling settings, including chronic and acute partial hospital programs, spiritual counseling in a medical inpatient setting, and school and academic (college) counseling. She has many years’ experience in crisis and trauma, and in work with individuals and families with grief and loss, working toward finding meaning and strength in their experiences. She particularly likes working with adults struggling with relationships and life changes and personal growth, depression, anxiety, loss, crisis and trauma. She incorporates the use of cognitive therapy and reality-based therapy, and utilizes a supportive role while identifying clients’ strengths and support networks.

MARISA MCCUTCHEN, MA, LCMHC holds a master's degree in counseling from the University of New Hampshire and a bachelor's degree from the Pennsylvania State University. She is licensed in the state of New Hampshire as a clinical mental health counselor. Marisa began her career as a psychotherapist in Riverbend's Community Support Program, treating individuals with a history of trauma and abuse, depression, bipolar disorder, anxiety, addiction and substance abuse, eating disorders, grieving, relationship issues, and life transitions. She went on to work for the Dartmouth Psychiatric Research Center providing training and consultation to New Hampshire community mental health center staff on two evidence-based practices supported by the New Hampshire Bureau of Behavioral Health. She currently does psychotherapy with individuals and couples at Riverbend Counseling Associates. Marisa has a special interest in supporting women and couples through postpartum issues, life transitions, women's' health issues, and relationship challenges. She is supportive of clients by employing a client-centered, strengths-based approach, and integrates cognitive-behavioral therapy and motivational interviewing to help individuals reach their goals.

KATHRYN STARRATT, LICSW, is a licensed independent clinical social worker who holds a Master’s degree in social work from University of New England and a Bachelor’s Degree in social work from the University of New Hampshire. Kathryn has over ten years of experience working with a variety of people, including adults, couples, families, adolescents and groups. Her practice has included work in Emergency Services, Medical Social Work and clinical practice addressing issues such as trauma, abuse, depression, anxiety, relationship, couples and parenting challenges. Kathryn approaches her work from a strength-based perspective heavily influenced by her deep respect for each individual’s unique needs and challenges. In helping each person reach their own success she uses a number of approaches including DBT, Dyadic Developmental Therapy, EMDR, Sand Tray and cognitive behavioral and solution focused modalities.

WAYNE CASTRO, MS, LCMHC, holds a Master of Science degree in Counseling from New England College, a Master of Arts degree in clinical psychology from Fairleigh Dickinson University, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Measurement, Evaluation and Statistics from Columbia University. With over twenty-five years experience in community mental health, he has worked in a variety of settings including adult outpatient, acute inpatient and emergency services; and with a variety of populations including adults, couples, older adolescents, active duty and retired military personnel, and immigration detainees. He is trained and experienced in Critical Incident Stress Management with first responders and in school/community settings. Special interests are crisis intervention, trauma victims and youth suicide prevention.

PRISCILLA THOMPSON, MA, LCMHC is a licensed mental health counselor. She earned a Bachelor’s and a Master’s degree in English Literature from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, England and holds a joint Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy and Mental Health Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in South Hamilton, Massachusetts. She has been a therapist at Riverbend’s Community Support Program for several years, working with individuals who struggle with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, eating disorders, and those who have histories of trauma or abuse. Priscilla’s approach is to be supportive and validating, while drawing on motivational interviewing, internal family systems theory, and cognitive-behavioral techniques to help people toward their goals. She enjoys working with couples, as well as individuals, to identify and express their deeper emotional needs and to communicate these needs more effectively.

DEBRA RAGEN-COFFMAN, MA, LCMHC, LPA is a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor and a Licensed Psychological Associate with over twenty-five years of clinical experience working with adults, teens, children, couples, families and groups. She holds a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from Fielding Graduate Institute and a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of California, Berkeley in Public Health Education. Debra has advanced training in psychoanalytic theory and holds a Certificate of Completion in British Object Relations Psychotherapy. An area of focus in her work has been helping people to recover from eating disorders. Debra infuses her work with warmth, a sense of humor, and a respect for the unique strengths and struggles of each individual. She is an Associate Member of the American Psychological Association and a member of the Center for Object Relations/Northwest Development Center.

KAREN FOULKE, RN, MS, APRN is an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse with Certification in Adult Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing. She holds a Masters Degree in Psychiatric Nursing from Northeastern University. She has over 25 years of experience in psychiatric nursing working in a variety of both inpatient and outpatient treatment settings. She conducts psychiatric evaluations, prescribes and monitors psychiatric medications. In addition, Karen held a teaching position as Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. She is a charter member of the American Psychiatric Nurses Association, and is an active member of the Board of the New England Chapter serving in various positions.

Appointments are available for most weekday evenings until 8:00pm and Saturdays until 1:00pm. Our building is handicap accessible and convenient to the Concord Area Transit bus route.
Riverbend Counseling Associates works with insurance companies to access client mental health benefits whenever possible. Mental health benefits are verified prior to your appointment; however, clients are responsible for co-payments and all non-covered services.
Additionally, if you are applying to Riverbend Counseling Associates Medication Services, we require detailed records of any past psychiatric medication treatment history before your first appointment is scheduled. This is done in order to provide you with the best, safest, and most efficient treatment possible. Our staff nurses will assist you in getting the necessary records from your past providers.

- NOTICE OF PRIVACY PRACTICES, explaining your rights regarding confidentiality and our responsibility to you with regard to honoring and protecting your rights.
- CLIENT RIGHTS AND RESPONSIBILITIES informing you of your rights as a client, how to appeal any decisions staff may make about your care, and where to call if you should have any concerns unanswered by the location providing services.
- CONSENT TO RECEIVE SERVICES explaining financial responsibilities as well as responsibility to keep us informed regarding insurance changes.
- HEALTH SCREEN FORM inquiring about your physical health and any medications you may be taking.
- CLIENT QUESTIONNAIRE to help us gain insight as to what is happening in your life and why you have decided to inquire about counseling, as well as whether there are specific issues you wish to address.
- DIRECTIONS to our RCA office at 278 Pleasant St. in Concord, NH.
Completing these forms before coming to your appointment will save time and allow for a more effective and efficient first visit. You should take the time to consider and express in writing your requirements for treatment, review your rights, and formulate questions with regard to treatment and services you may receive with us.
